Crew 58 is committed to providing a traditional Venturing program to all young men and women.  All are welcome to visit and join the Crew.

Venturers in Crew 58 range in age from 13 to 20 years.  Our Venturers are from the Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, and Moorseville areas and attend public school, private school, and homeschool.  Most Crew 58 members participate in recreational and competitive sports as well as music and the arts, in addition to Venturing.

Crew 58 meets the first Tuesday of the month and the Tuesday before a trip from 7:00-8:30PM in the basement of the Davidson College Presbyterian Church Congregation House, except for national and school holidays.  Please contact Crew 58's Adult Advisor for details or to arrange a visit.

All about Venturing

Venturing is a program offered through the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 through 20 years old, or who are 13 and have completed the eighth grade. It offers young people adventure with a purpose that serves to build character, promote citizenship, and develop physical and mental fitness. The experience helps participants mature into responsible, caring, and dependable leaders for tomorrow.

Each Venturing crew is responsible for achieving these aims by designing a program that appeals to its members. Thus, Venturing is a catalyst: It brings together adults and young people, and incredible things happen. It is all about asking themselves and one another what is possible and then setting out to plan and execute toward fulfillment.

The four areas of emphasis in Venturing are:

  • Adventure. Mentoring, leading, and participating in crew-led adventures.

  • Leadership. Ongoing leadership development through training, mentoring, and hands-on leadership.

  • Personal Growth. Goal setting in support of personal growth.

  • Service. Leading and participating in community service.
